Introducing Bean

Beanlen was born not long ago, early 2003. I'll do the math for you - that makes him a 2 and a half year old. I'm blessed that Beanlen, Bean for short, does not suffer from the foul mood that many children his age do. Instead, he has become a something of a human wrecking ball. He seems to have the perfect blend of toughness, intelligence, humor, and adventure to make him dangerous. Not just to the breakable items either. Just ask the cats (whom he loves dearly).

At 2, Bean can work the DVD player, the Xbox (he LOVES Simpsons Hit & Run), the alarm clocks (lucky for me I don't need to get to work on time anymore), the computer (damn that Teletubbies site), the digital camera (I have at least 200 megs of photos starring part of his thumb), the phone (all our telemarketers know about our cats), the microphone and webcam (he often hooked it up for the morning shows we used to do), and just about anything he sees someone use once. In other words, he's more technically saavy than most people that will read this post. That's not to say he's an expert at any though. I think we're down to 2 working xbox games (*sob* *sob*), 0 webcams, and Elmopalooza sounds like it's been remixed. His poor little fingers don't seem to have caught up with his mind yet. He knows how its supposed to work anyway.

Bean is very outgoing and volunteers for any project he sees me working on. This is great when the project is something like Kevin and Bean in the Mornings (he used to wake me up saying, "Computer, microphone, camera!"), not so great when its rendering video and he his attention span is almost non-existent.

Bean also benefits from being born later in the technical evolution than Ender. For Ender's first several years, we didn't have much for a camera, let alone a digital camera. So Bean's childhood is documented with photos a lot more than Ender's.

So I leave now thinking about all the photos I need to try to acquire and scan of Ender's childhood. Meanwhile Bean's is all ready to go, drive D.
